Everyone brings in snacks, cookies, breads, chocolates, and other sweets into work during the holidays. Today I tried a homemade Traditional German Springerle Cookie (pronounced SPRING-uhr-lee) that my co-worker made. These festive biscuits called Springerle have been a Christmas tradition in Austria and Bavaria as far back as the 14th century. The ingredients include anise seeds, flour, baking powder, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, and confectioners' sugar. It was only ok, as I prefer cookies with chocolate!
