273rd New Thing - Drank Fox Brook White Zin

I went to The Tavern in Wash Park with a couple classmates for happy hour tonight. It is a neighborhood bar with food and drink and in multiple locations in the Denver area. The company was the brainchild of Frank Schultz and his mother and step-father Terry and Al Papay. There are 7 Taverns in the area each with its own flavor and personality. They have happy hour Monday to Friday 2-7pm with 2-for-1 Well Drinks, House Wine, and Domestic Draft Beers. I enjoyed 2-for-1 Fox Brook White Zinfindels for $5.75. Fox Brook is made in California with aromas of strawberries, raspberries and fresh peach, and 11% alcohol. The wine was ok for a white zin. What did you do today?

258th New Thing - Played Kan Jam

Today is the 4th of July, aka Independence Day. This day a federal holiday in the US commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain. This day is usually celebrated with parades, festivals, concerts, BBQs, picnics, parties, camping, pool days, etc. We decided to ride our bikes to Wash Park to hang out and play Frisbee. The park was absolutely packed with people eating, drinking, and playing. It was a hot day in Denver, about 90F. We played some Kan Jam . This is a disc tossing game played with a flying disc and two cans in which you deflect the disc into the can. Kan Jam was invented by Charles Sciandra and Paul Swisher in the mid-1990s and is based in western New York. After our games, we biked home and hung out at the pool for a bit. We grilled some chicken, steamed some broccoli, and made mac n cheese. Unfortunately, because of all the fires in Colorado, there is a statewide fire ban, including...

247th New Thing - Threw an Engagement Party

I didn't have time to post last night, therefore I'm posting this a day late as this occurred yesterday (Sat 6/23/12). My fiancé and I have been engaged for a few weeks now, so we wanted to celebrate our engagement with our Colorado friends. We threw our Engagement Party at Wash Park on Saturday from around 12-5pm. It was a real hot day in Denver, about 95F with 20% humidity, so we set up our canopy and table under the trees on the north side of the park. We brought Bocce Ball, Frisbees, Volleyballs, and Footballs. We drank John Dalys, Coors Lights, and Waters. We ate a veggie tray, fruit, pasta salad, cole slaw, sandwiches, pretzels, chips, pistacios, swedish fish, and cookies. It was a good time with good friends. Everyone ate, drank, and played. We wound up staying at the park until about 8:30pm. What a great day! What did you do today?
