Mile Hi - New Things

I went to see TEDxChange today after work. DU was broadcasting it from Berlin. TED (Technology, Entertainment, and Design) Conferences are non-profit conferences, formed to disseminate "ideas worth spreading." It was founded in 1984 and is held annually and globally. If you go to their website, you can watch videos of the speakers from the past and present. Each speaker is challenged to give the talk of their live in 18 minutes or less. Tonight, I listened to 2 speakers of the TEDxChange speakers in Berlin: Jeff Chapin and Sven Giegold. Jeff Chapin is a mechanical engineer and product designer for IDEO. He specializes in designing sanitation solutions for the developing world and has conducted projects in both Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Jeff challenged traditional perceptions of ‘design’ by emphasizing the importance of sustainable, market-based systems for developing societies. Sven Giegold is a Member of the European Parliament and 1 of the founding members of...
