7-Day Cleanse - Intro

A New Year's Resolution of ours is to detoxify our bodies. We decided to do a 7-Day Cleanse from January 2-8. It is a health plan aimed at cleansing the body of impurities and toxins.

Many proponents of 7-Day cleanses say the ingredients used in the cleanse will purify the body. The benefit is giving your digestive system a rest. This is not a starvation diet, but rather a detoxification diet, eliminating incoming toxins to allow the body to rid itself of stored toxins. The cleanse includes nutritious, easy-to-digest foods like lots of water, fruits, vegetables, and brown rice. Herbs and spices can be added. You eat lots of green vegetables, such as spinach, broccoli, celery, kale, chard and beet greens, and fruit each day.

The main focus of this diet is to provide great nutrition and eliminate all the foods that contain artificial ingredients or pesticide/herbicide residue, and foods that are difficult to digest or have a tendency to cause sensitivity or allergies. This includes all processed and refined foods, meat, wheat, legumes, and soy. You should avoid coffee, other caffeinated beverages, and alcohol. After 7 days, many stored toxins will have been eliminated, and a you should feel more energetic and healthier in general.

After we decided this is what we wanted to do, we went to Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage to buy some products. We bought Ultimate Detox, Cleanse & Rebuild by Michael's Naturopathic Programs. We will start the cleanse tomorrow!

111th New Thing - Took a Zyrtec

If you recall, I went to the dermatologist to get a skin screening for the 1st time back in December. When I was there, the doctor did a biopsy of 1 of the moles on my back (which came back as normal, by the way). The area was healing pretty well until about 2 weeks ago. The area around the wound started getting bigger instead of smaller and oozing. Therefore, I went back to my doctor to check it out. She said I was having an allergic reaction to something, probably the Neosporin . She gave me some new ointment, Vanos , and said I should take Zyrtec until the area starts to get better. Vanos (fluocinonide) Cream is indicated for the relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid responsive dermatoses in patients. Best results are seen if used twice per day. Zyrtec (cetirizine) is an antihistamine that reduces the effects of natural chemical histamine in the body. Histamine can produce symptoms of sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose. Zyrtec can be u...

361st New Thing - Tried on Wedding Dresses

I didn't have time to post the last night, therefore I'm posting this late as this occurred yesterday (Mon 10/15/12). My friend and I went to David's Bridal last night to try on some wedding dresses. I looked on their website a few months ago to get a feel of the type of dresses I like. There are 6 styles: Classic & Traditional, Chic & Modern, Elegant & Luxurious, Glamorous & Dramatic, Destination, and Reception. I like Classic & Traditional the best. There are 5 silhouettes to choose from: A-Line, Ball Gown, Mermaid/Trumpet, Sheath, and Short. I like A-Line the best. I'm considering straps or strapless. It took about 1.5 hours to try on 5 dresses. I liked 2 of the dresses I tried on, both were under $350. My goal is to find one under $200. Here is one of the 'favorites' that I saw online. It is hard to tell if I would or wouldn't like it on myself. What did you do today?
