Eating My Way Thru OR - Day 1

Oregon - June 2017
  • Original Dinerant (300 SW 6th Ave, Portland OR 97204) - Donut Burger Sliders, they take two buttermilk donuts, Tillamook cheddar, ground beef patty, and top with donut glaze; sweet and salty heaven! We also got Northwest Clam Chowder which was pretty tasty.
  • Pok Pok (3226 SE Division St, Portland OR 97202) - Ike’s Vietnamese Fish Sauce Wings, 6 chicken wings marinated in fish sauce and sugar, deep fried, tossed in caramelized Vietnamese fish sauce and garlic and served with Cu Cai (pickled vegetables.) I really enjoyed these wings. We also ordered the Neua Naam Tok which is spicy Isaan flank steak “salad” with fish sauce, lime and chili powder dressing, shallots, lemongrass, mint, cilantro and toasted rice powder, with a side of sticky rice. Definitely could have done without the mint.
  • Burgerville - Triple Berry Shake is made with marionberries, raspberries, and blueberries.
  • Other snacks & gifts - Juanita's Tortilla Chips are probably my favorite bagged tortilla chip now. We also ate the chips with Mama Mia's Fire Roasted Medium Salsa (made in OR), which was very fresh and flavorful.

111th New Thing - Took a Zyrtec

If you recall, I went to the dermatologist to get a skin screening for the 1st time back in December. When I was there, the doctor did a biopsy of 1 of the moles on my back (which came back as normal, by the way). The area was healing pretty well until about 2 weeks ago. The area around the wound started getting bigger instead of smaller and oozing. Therefore, I went back to my doctor to check it out. She said I was having an allergic reaction to something, probably the Neosporin . She gave me some new ointment, Vanos , and said I should take Zyrtec until the area starts to get better. Vanos (fluocinonide) Cream is indicated for the relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid responsive dermatoses in patients. Best results are seen if used twice per day. Zyrtec (cetirizine) is an antihistamine that reduces the effects of natural chemical histamine in the body. Histamine can produce symptoms of sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose. Zyrtec can be u...

361st New Thing - Tried on Wedding Dresses

I didn't have time to post the last night, therefore I'm posting this late as this occurred yesterday (Mon 10/15/12). My friend and I went to David's Bridal last night to try on some wedding dresses. I looked on their website a few months ago to get a feel of the type of dresses I like. There are 6 styles: Classic & Traditional, Chic & Modern, Elegant & Luxurious, Glamorous & Dramatic, Destination, and Reception. I like Classic & Traditional the best. There are 5 silhouettes to choose from: A-Line, Ball Gown, Mermaid/Trumpet, Sheath, and Short. I like A-Line the best. I'm considering straps or strapless. It took about 1.5 hours to try on 5 dresses. I liked 2 of the dresses I tried on, both were under $350. My goal is to find one under $200. Here is one of the 'favorites' that I saw online. It is hard to tell if I would or wouldn't like it on myself. What did you do today?
