365 New Things

HELLO! Long time, no post. I’ve been really busy with work, grad school, and life. But I graduated in August so I’m back! Occasionally, I get bored of my daily routine (ex work 8 hours, work out, make dinner, watch a show, go to bed). Therefore, I’ve decided to challenge myself to try something new each day, 365 New Things (in terms of cooking, eating, drinking, reading, travelling, fitness, games, careers, good deeds, and more). I hope it will inspire others to be experimental and exploratory to try new things in your lives as well. I encourage you to read my blog, follow me in my adventures, and share your new things as well.

I leave you with this expert from a post from Trying New Things, by Alex Lickerman (www.happinessinthisworld.com/2010/02/28/trying-new-things). In summary, here’s a list of things I try to remind myself whenever I’m faced with trying something new:

• Trying something new often requires courage.
• Trying something new opens up the possibility for you to enjoy something new.
• Trying something new keeps you from becoming bored.
• Trying something new forces you to grow.

Good luck and happy adventures to us all!

111th New Thing - Took a Zyrtec

If you recall, I went to the dermatologist to get a skin screening for the 1st time back in December. When I was there, the doctor did a biopsy of 1 of the moles on my back (which came back as normal, by the way). The area was healing pretty well until about 2 weeks ago. The area around the wound started getting bigger instead of smaller and oozing. Therefore, I went back to my doctor to check it out. She said I was having an allergic reaction to something, probably the Neosporin . She gave me some new ointment, Vanos , and said I should take Zyrtec until the area starts to get better. Vanos (fluocinonide) Cream is indicated for the relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid responsive dermatoses in patients. Best results are seen if used twice per day. Zyrtec (cetirizine) is an antihistamine that reduces the effects of natural chemical histamine in the body. Histamine can produce symptoms of sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose. Zyrtec can be u...

361st New Thing - Tried on Wedding Dresses

I didn't have time to post the last night, therefore I'm posting this late as this occurred yesterday (Mon 10/15/12). My friend and I went to David's Bridal last night to try on some wedding dresses. I looked on their website a few months ago to get a feel of the type of dresses I like. There are 6 styles: Classic & Traditional, Chic & Modern, Elegant & Luxurious, Glamorous & Dramatic, Destination, and Reception. I like Classic & Traditional the best. There are 5 silhouettes to choose from: A-Line, Ball Gown, Mermaid/Trumpet, Sheath, and Short. I like A-Line the best. I'm considering straps or strapless. It took about 1.5 hours to try on 5 dresses. I liked 2 of the dresses I tried on, both were under $350. My goal is to find one under $200. Here is one of the 'favorites' that I saw online. It is hard to tell if I would or wouldn't like it on myself. What did you do today?
