I participated in Bike to Work Day yesterday. Bike to Work Day is held in Colorado in June, the month after the national Bike to Work Day celebration, due to unpredictable May weather. The Denver area event is organized by the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) with the assistance of a team of stakeholders, and is supported by KUSA/9News, Encana Natural Gas, RTD, Comcast, Craig Hospital, Noodles & Company, b-Cycle, goodnessKnows, Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, CDOT, REI, Colorado Athletic Clubs, Westword, Chipotle, and the American Lung Association in Colorado. The Bike to Work Day site offers a map of stations throughout the region that will offer refreshments the day of the event, resources for route planning, safety tips, information about group rides, t-shirt ordering, and more. The annual event supports and promotes bicycling as a commute choice among workers who might otherwise choose to drive alone to work, in the hopes that once they try bicycling, it may become a regular part of the daily routine.

One of the breakfast stations was at Whole Foods in Cherry Creek. They were serving water, coffee, bagels & cream cheese, granola samples, Eat Your Vegetables Chips Jalapeño Ranch, and dark chocolate samples. Eat Your Vegetables Chips are made by Snikiddy. Snikiddy is a 2006-born company started by a mother daughter team founded by Mary Schulman who resides in Bethesda MD. Essentially, the chips are made out of vegetables that have the composition and texture of a chip, yet provides all the healthy benefits in each serving. The chips come in Sea Salt, Sour Cream & Onion, Jalapeño Ranch, and Italian Herb & Olive Oil flavors. 47th New Thing - Watched Laverne & Shirley

I watched a classic sitcom today from the 70s, Laverne & Shirley . The show aired on ABC from January 26, 1976, to May 10, 1983 and starred Penny Marshall as Laverne De Fazio and Cindy Williams as Shirley Feeney. They were roommates who worked in a fictitious Milwaukee brewery called "Shotz Brewery". The show was a spin-off from Happy Days, as the two lead characters were originally introduced on that series as acquaintances of Fonzie. I watched Season 7, Episode 22, "Perfidy in Blue" originally aired on May 11, 1982. This episode started out with Shirley looking for Laverne's favorite blue purse that she borrowed and lost. Laverne asks where it is because she would like to use it on her date. Shirley lies and says she hasn't seen it. Shirley then watches TV and daydreams that she is in the TV show and married. Laverne is having an affair with Shirley's husband and Laverne tries to poison Shirley. Shirley pretends she is dead. Shirley wakes up and ...

271st New Thing - Visited the Space Needle

I was on vacation so I didn't have time to post the last few nights, therefore I'm posting this late as this occurred 1 day ago   (Tues 7/17/12).   We were in the northwest in the Washington State area for a few days so Matt and my 2 Chicago friends were in Seattle and up the Space Needle yesterday. The Space Needle is a tower in Seattle, Washington and is a major landmark of the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. It was built for the 1962 World's Fair, during which time nearly 20,000 people a day used the elevators, with over 2.3 million visitors in all for the World Fair. The Space Needle is 605 feet high at its highest point and 138 feet wide at its widest point and weighs 9,550 tons. It is built to withstand winds of up to 200 mph and earthquakes of up to 9.1 magnitude. The tower also has 25 lightning rods on its roof to prevent lightning damage. The Space Needle features an observation deck at 520 feet, and a gift shop with the rotating SkyCity resta...
