185th New Thing - Went to Denver Museum of Nature & Science

Image Detail
Since today is Earth Day, admission was free to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, as an SCFD (Scientific & Cultural Facilities District) Community Free Day (Free Days are funded in part, by the citizens of the metro area via the SCFD 0.1% sales and use tax). We were at the museum for about an hour and went to Space Odyssey, Wildlife Exhibits, Egyptian Mummies, and Lizards & Snakes (actual living creatures). Some other exhibits we did not see include Gems & Minerals, Expedition Health, North American Indian Cultures, Gem Carvings, and Prehistoric Journey. I'll have to go check those out another time.

Earth Day is an annual day on which events are held worldwide to increase awareness and appreciation of the Earth's natural environment. It is celebrated in more than 175 countries every year. The name and concept of Earth Day was allegedly pioneered by John McConnell in 1969 at a UNESCO Conference in San Francisco. He proposed March 21, 1970, the 1st day of spring in the northern hemisphere. About the same time a separate Earth Day was founded by United States Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in 1st held on April 22, 1970.

111th New Thing - Took a Zyrtec

If you recall, I went to the dermatologist to get a skin screening for the 1st time back in December. When I was there, the doctor did a biopsy of 1 of the moles on my back (which came back as normal, by the way). The area was healing pretty well until about 2 weeks ago. The area around the wound started getting bigger instead of smaller and oozing. Therefore, I went back to my doctor to check it out. She said I was having an allergic reaction to something, probably the Neosporin . She gave me some new ointment, Vanos , and said I should take Zyrtec until the area starts to get better. Vanos (fluocinonide) Cream is indicated for the relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid responsive dermatoses in patients. Best results are seen if used twice per day. Zyrtec (cetirizine) is an antihistamine that reduces the effects of natural chemical histamine in the body. Histamine can produce symptoms of sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose. Zyrtec can be u...

361st New Thing - Tried on Wedding Dresses

I didn't have time to post the last night, therefore I'm posting this late as this occurred yesterday (Mon 10/15/12). My friend and I went to David's Bridal last night to try on some wedding dresses. I looked on their website a few months ago to get a feel of the type of dresses I like. There are 6 styles: Classic & Traditional, Chic & Modern, Elegant & Luxurious, Glamorous & Dramatic, Destination, and Reception. I like Classic & Traditional the best. There are 5 silhouettes to choose from: A-Line, Ball Gown, Mermaid/Trumpet, Sheath, and Short. I like A-Line the best. I'm considering straps or strapless. It took about 1.5 hours to try on 5 dresses. I liked 2 of the dresses I tried on, both were under $350. My goal is to find one under $200. Here is one of the 'favorites' that I saw online. It is hard to tell if I would or wouldn't like it on myself. What did you do today?
