296th New Thing - Watched My Week with Marilyn

I didn't have time to post last night, therefore I'm posting this a day late as this occurred yesterday (Sat 8/11/12).

We watched a movie entitled My Week with Marilyn with Michelle Williams and Eddie Redmayne, that came out on November 23, 2011. It is a British drama film based on 2 books by Colin Clark that depicts the making of the 1957 film The Prince and the Showgirl, which starred Marilyn Monroe and Laurence Olivier. The film focuses on the week in which Monroe spent time being escorted around London by Clark, after her husband, Arthur Miller, had left the country. For her portrayal of Monroe, Williams was awarded the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Motion Picture. She also earned Best Actress nominations from the Academy Awards and British Academy Film Awards. I thought it was an ok depiction of Marilyn Monroe, some parts a little slow. It is possible that I may have fallen asleep for a bit. IMDB gave it a 7.1 out of 10 and I would give it a 6.1 rating.

Parran’s Po-Boys & Restaurant (3939 Veterans Blvd, Metairie LA 70002) - Seafood Trifecta (1/3 fried shrimp sandwich, 1/3 fried oyster sandwich, 1/3 fried catfish sandwich *best*) dressed (mayo, lettuce, tomato). Chilly's Snoballs (3940 Veterans Memorial Blvd, Metairie LA 70006) - Sampled a few and then ordered 8oz Douberge and 8oz Wedding Cake from the drive-thru. NOLA - October 2018 Café Du Monde (800 Decatur St, New Orleans LA 70116) - Café Au Lait and Beignets, only a 10 minute wait with some live music and well worth it! Commander’s Palace (1403 Washington Ave, New Orleans LA 70130) - Soups 1-1-1 (Turtle Soup, Creole Gumbo du Jour, Soup du Jour), Commander's Crisp Romaine Salad, and Creole Tostada; and, of course, a 25¢ Martini (does it really matter what kind!).
