207th New Thing - Started a Business Plan

I didn't have time to post last night, therefore I'm posting this late as this occurred yesterday (Mon 5/14/12).

As I mentioned a few days ago, I've recently been thinking of starting my own retail store. I met a fellow DU MBA alumni that owns a retail store to chat last week. Her advice was to start with a business plan so I downloaded some Business Plan Word Doc templates this past weekend and started to write my plan last night. Some sections of the business plan include Company Description, Products and Services, Marketing Plan, Operational Plan, and Financial Plan. I started with the Company Description. I think Operational Plan and Financial Plan will be the most difficult.

Just like signing up for a marathon, I know starting to write a business plan isn't really an exciting 'new thing' to do, but it is to me. It also means I made the 1st steps to making this a reality. I haven't told many people about my retail store idea because I don't want anyone to steal my idea. Someday I will reveal it, but it may be next year (I don't have money to invest in this business just yet). Stay tuned.

What did you do today?

It was built for the 1962 World's Fair, during which time nearly 20,000 people a day used the elevators, with over 2.3 million visitors in all for the World Fair. The Space Needle is 605 feet high at its highest point and 138 feet wide at its widest point and weighs 9,550 tons. It is built to withstand winds of up to 200 mph and earthquakes of up to 9.1 magnitude. The tower also has 25 lightning rods on its roof to prevent lightning damage.
